1. Who picks up my garbage?

The City of Farmers Branch contracts with Community Waste Disposal (CWD) for residential garbage collection. For any questions or concerns, please contact CWD at 972.392.9300.

2. Which day is my garbage picked up?

Residential garbage is picked up by CWD five days a week, Monday through Friday. To check which days CWD is in your neighborhood, please see the Garbage Pickup/Green Grabber Schedule which you will find on the Sustainability and Public Health Department page. Please remember that all garbage should be out by 7:00 a.m. the day of your pickup.

3. Does the City provide recycling services?

Yes, currently the City provides Free Curbside Recycling and provides the residents with a blue recycling container serviced by Community Waste Disposal (CWD) once a week. Containers are for the recycling of paper, plastics (#1 -5 & #7), glass (any color), wax-coated paper drink containers, aluminum, metal cans, and cardboard. Residents may place all of the above materials in the containers. Please empty contents and rinse food containers prior to placing them in your recycle cart. Materials are commingled in the containers so no sorting is necessary as that is accomplished at the recycling facility. 

Residential recycling is also accepted at the Citizen Collection Center (1399 Valley View Lane) open Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9 am to 6 pm.  Please bring proof of proof of residency.       

4. Does the City have a brush or bulky pickup?

Yes, City staff in the Solid Waste Division provides the “Green Grabber” or brush and bulky pickup service to our residents. Please see the Garbage Pickup/Green Grabber Schedule which you will find on the Sustainability & Public Health-Solid Waste Division page to check which day the "Green Grabber" is in your neighborhood. If you have questions regarding your items for pickup, please contact the Public Works Department at 972.919.2597.

5. Does the City pick up paint or pesticides?

No, the City does not pick up paint or pesticides. Those items and more hazardous household chemicals or waste items can be taken to the Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center at 11234 Plano Road, Dallas 75243. 6. Does the City of Farmers Branch have a landfill?

Yes, the City of Farmers Branch owns the Camelot Landfill which is located in Lewisville. There is no fee for the residents of Farmers Branch with proof of residency (drivers license, utility bill, etc.). The landfill is located at 580 Huffines Boulevard. Take I-35 north to Highway 121 Business (exit 450). Go east on Highway 121 for about three miles, then turn right on Huffines. 7. Does the City pick up any special waste items?

Yes, the Solid Waste Division has a Wednesday Special Waste Pickup. Items that the City will pick up are motor oil, oil filters, car or boat batteries, glass panes, mirrors, and car or truck tires. To schedule a Wednesday Special Pickup, contact the Public Works Department at 972.919.2597 prior to Wednesday to be put on the list. Place your items out at the curb by 7 a.m. for pickup.

8. Where can I purchase paper garbage sacks like the City once provided?

Paper garbage bags can be purchased at any hardware store or grocery store that carry them. Locally, Ace Hardware, Super Walmart & Home Depot carry these style bags.

9. When are garbage sacks delivered?

Starting 2016 garbage sacks are no longer being provided to residents in lieu of the New Free Curbside Recycling Program.
