SAFETY: Residents can help Police fight crime with SafeCam

SafeCam is one of the Farmers Branch Police Department's most innovative crime prevention tools. Citizens who register their private surveillance cameras could provide evidence to help in future investigations.

The goal is to deter crime and promote public safety through a collaboration between police and the community.

Citizen-provided security camera footage is increasingly helpful establishing leads and identifying perpetrators. SafeCam makes neighborhoods safer.

  1. REGISTRATION: Registering only takes about 10 minutes. Residents will provide basic information, such as camera's location. There is no cost.
  2. VERIFICATION: A member of the Department will follow up to confirm your registration.
  3. CALL OF DUTY: Residents will be contacted by the Farmers Branch Police Department if there is a criminal incident in the vicinity of their camera. Police personnel may request a copy of the video to assist in their investigation.

Registering information does not provide FBPD with direct access to cameras. The Farmers Branch Police Department will only contact residents if they believe the camera feed could contain evidence relevant to a criminal investigation.
