FBTX ~ While the 2020 Census is ongoing, the U.S. Census Bureau has released new population estimates, placing the Farmers Branch population at 48,158 - up 18.8 percent from the previous year’s estimate of 40,527.

By comparison with neighboring communities, Carrollton’s population from the previous year was up 1.6 percent. Addison saw an increase of about 6 percent while Coppell’s population declined slightly, by less than 1 percent.

The new estimate is an increase of almost 20,000 from the 2010 census total of 28,616. Still, officials emphasize that participation in the 2020 Census is critical to getting the most complete and current count. It takes less than 10 minutes. Visit 2020census.gov.
