Jackie Byles to lead The Branch Connection

Jackie Byles new manager of The Branch Connection

FBTX ~ The Farmers Branch Parks and Recreation Department has announced that Jackie Byles will become the new manager of The Branch Connection, beginning Monday, April 13.

   A Texas native, enlisted in the United States Navy straight out of high school and served for eight years. He spent five years aboard U.S.S. Leyte Gulf, where he completed two deployment tours, Operation Enduring Iraqi Freedom and Joint African Partnership Tour. After his time in the Navy, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree at Texas A&M Corpus Christi in Kinesiology, and, shortly after, he completed his Master’s Degree from the University of North Texas in Recreation, Event, and Sports Management.

   "We are extremely excited to be adding someone with Jackie’s skills and experience to our team," said Parks & Recreation Director Mike Mashburn. "His proven track record and commitment to excellence made him a natural fit as the new leader of The Branch Connection."

   Jackie’s previous job title was the Senior Center Supervisor for the City of Carrollton, where he provided programs, activities, and a safe and fun environment for members of the Senior Center. Several interesting places he has visited are Egypt, Rome, Paris, Gibraltar, Malaysia, Ireland, Greece, Kenya, Seychelles, Gran Canarias Island, Mombasa, Dubai, and Bahrain.
