FBTX ~ The Farmers Branch Police Department has discontinued use of the alert system Tip411 in favor of the more widely-used Branch Alert system which also offers subscribers information on a variety of topics, including weather bulletins.

Subscribers can sign-up for Branch Alert online and should select "Emergency Alerts" in order to receive bulletins from the Police Department.

In related news for existing Branch Alert subscribers, the Farmers Branch Emergency Management Office has announced new settings to the system that will silence non-critical alerts between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. However, Emergency Management Specialist Lauren Sanchez added that serious alerts, like Severe Thunderstorm Warnings or Tornado Warnings will override the "quiet hours" setting and be sent out in real time.
