Parks crews put skills to the test in local rodeo

FBTX ~ Farmers Branch Parks crews put their skills to the test at the internal Parks and Recreation Rodeo held recently to determine who would represent the local department in regional competition.

Events included mower obstacle course, truck and trailer course, hammer and nail efficiency, backpack blower efficiency, and rounding it all out with an irrigation practical.

The friendly competition helps to improve Parks crew’s performance and safety in the field. Winners from the internal rodeo will represent Farmers Branch at the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS) 2019 Regional Maintenance Rodeo this week in Rockwall. The top five regional contestants or teams are eligible to compete in the 2020 State Rodeo. In 2019, Farmers Branch took 2nd and 3rd in the Blower Competition and 1st place in Plant Identification at the state level.
