FBTX ~ With attention to its placement on a portion of an existing park, Farmers Branch Fire Chief Steve Parker recently unveiled the conceptual design for the soon-to-be-relocated Fire Station No. 2.

The $5.5 million project will place Station No. 2 on the northeast end of Holiday Park, near the intersection of Valley View and Alpha Link, across from Brookhaven College. This relocates the facility from its dated and undersized building on Spring Valley Road.

The new building will encompass 10,400 square feet and include bedrooms for eight firefighter/paramedics, kitchen/dining and dayrooms, unisex bathrooms, a community classroom that can seat up to 24 and a 2015 International Building Code-compliant storm shelter.

Fire Chief Steve Parker said the project is unique in that it includes a detailed master plan to improve the current green space, including walking trails, seating and a location for public art.

Currently, architectural design is scheduled for completion by the end of 2018 with construction to commence next year and a move-in set for early 2020.
