Mark your calendars for our free event on October 17, Celebration of Roses! This event puts the Bloom in the Bloomin’ Bluegrass Festival with all its fun activities and music. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Hop on a shuttle and visit the gardens (shuttles will stop at the Historical Park for Bluegrass guests)
  • Pick blooms for the floral design workshop while enjoying the bluegrass duet Purple Hulls
  • Chat with Master Gardeners about the garden
  • Arrange a ‘Pint Size Bouquet’* at the hands-on floral design workshop
  • Create a ‘Trading Card’ piece of art with the guidance of the Lewisville Visual Art League
  • Enjoy a free grilled hot dog lunch and the music of Tom and Loyd of the Original Shady Grove Ramblers
  • Visit the Dallas Rose Society Rose Show in City Hall
  • Claim a free rose plant when you showcase your creation in the ’Pint-Sized Bouquet’* exhibition

Pint-Size Bouquets*

Mary, Mary quite contrary show us how your garden grows by gathering a bouquet from your garden.

Participation is easy! Here is what you need to know:

  • Arrange your bouquet in a pint-size jar
  • Rose blooms are encouraged but not required
  • No purchased flowers, please
  • Drop off bouquet between 6 am and 9:30 am & pick up at 4 pm at City Hall (or better yet leave and it will be taken to a senior living facility)

All participants will receive a free rose bush

Mariana Greene, former Garden Editor of the Dallas Morning News will select bouquets that have that certain sparkle… creativity…design…horticultural excellence… to receive a show certificate & bragging rights.
