Class Registration Procedures

Farmers Branch residents and member registration procedures for fee-based classes:

  • Have your membership or valid government-issued ID
  • Preregistration is required
  • Register over the phone during normal business hours  at 972.247.4607 with Discover, Diner's Club, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express
  • Register online with Discover, Diner's Club, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express
  • Register in person during normal business hours 
  • Residents and members may register for any and all sessions during the current quarter at one time

Non-Member class registration procedures for fee-based classes

  • Register in person or over the phone during normal business hours 
  • Register online
  • Non-residents may register one week prior to each monthly session and pay the "non-member rate" for instructional classes

This class is designed as a stepping stone between preschool and regular gymnastic level classes, for ages 4-6. 
This class is ideal for the child who is still learning the fundamentals of gymnastics but has matured beyond the preschool level.

Preschool Level 1 - Level 4

Tumble out your energy! This is a wonderful way to introduce your child to gymnastics. 
Children will have fun while receiving excellent class instruction with all types of equipment: bars, tumble track, trampoline, balance beams and more. This class will enhance your child's coordination, motor skills, flexibility and endurance. 
Children must be potty trained and dressed in appropriate attire. No jeans please!

Level 1 - Level 6

Gymnasts will experience the fun filled world of gymnastics in these fun interactive classes. 
Develop the fundamentals of gymnastics on balance beams, bars, floor, trampoline, vault, and tumble-track. 
Gymnasts will work their way up through the levels in a non-competitive learning environment.

Preschool Arts and Crafts

Preschoolers will create simple art projects. A $5 supply fee will be paid to the instructor at the beginning of each month.

Preschool Play and Learn

Participants will learn skills in math and reading and have a blast doing story time, and music.

Samantha Young has been teaching at the Farmers Branch Recreation Center for almost eight years and though she has worked hard to give children a quality dance education during this time, her ultimate goal is to build character in young boys and girls.
To teach them modesty in movement, kindness toward others, respect of authority, attentiveness in instruction, diligence in training, and enthusiasm in performance—helping prepare your children for life in the context of a dance class.

The Grow Music and Dance Program

Amy Grow has been teaching at the Farmers Branch Recreation Center for six years and has been sharing the love of music and dance across the Metroplex for over ten years.  She has an MA in Music Education and a BA in Liberal Arts Performance. Amy formed “The Grow Music & Dance Program” after graduating in 2013, and its mission is to serve the community by providing high-quality Fine Arts opportunities for students from all walks of life. Amy has a passion for providing meaningful life lessons and experience through her classes; allowing students to find a deeper connection in what they are learning and with their lives outside of the classroom.

Semi Private Piano Lessons

2 students max per session 

A classis note middle C approach to note reading. This course teaches young students beginning piano. Students learn the music alphabet and notes, then learn how to read music on lines. Students learn to play piano pieces to practice at home. 
A $10 supply fee will be paid to the instructor at the beginning of each month.

Youth Sports 

BRD Academy - Basketball Recreation Development

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday | 4:30 pm - 6 pm 

$60 Member/$64 Non-member

This innovative basketball coached program highlights footwork, shooting form, ball handling, dribbling, speed, and much more. The academy also focuses on becoming a successful student athlete and the importance of how school and sports relate to each other. The program is led by Bennett Davison, a former international basketball player.
Bennett was also a part of the 1997 NCAA National Championship winning team with the University of Arizona. 

Red Tiger Karate 

Ages 5 - 12 | Thursday | 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm 
Teen & Adult | Thursday | 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm 

$60 Member/$64 Non-member | Red Tiger Karate 

Learn American Karate in this white through black belt program. The junior program develops self-esteem, positive behavior, academic achievement, and respect for others.  In addition to practicing karate techniques, abduction prevention training and bully self-defense skills are integrated into the lessons.  Adult classes focus on street self-defense, fitness, and personal development.
