Fishin’ Fun is an annual fishing tournament that takes place during the spring at the beautiful Rawhide Creek. It’s a free event designed for ages 16 and under and is open to both residents and non-residents. There are trophies and prizes for the top 3 fish in each age category and family-friendly activities at the event!
There will be loaner rods & reels, free bait and over a ton of hungry fish to catch. Tagged fish will win a special prize.
Texas Parks & Wildlife Angler Educators will be here to teach you about fishing and casting and awarding First Fish certificates to kids who catch their first fish.
8 - 10 a.m.: Fishing Tournament (Kids 16 and under ONLY)
8 - 11 a.m.: Kids Zone
10:30 a.m.: Awards Ceremony
11 a.m.: End of Event
Fishing Tournament Guidelines
Fish are measured at the Bait & Measuring Stations to determine the largest three fish in each age category: Ages 0-6, Ages 7-11 and Ages 12-16. No prize for the smallest fish. Five fish limit per child.
Any catfish measuring less than 12” must be released back into the water per state regulations.
Tournament Awards Ceremony (on the stage)
At 10:30 a.m., trophies and prizes will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age category. Grand Prize Lake Texoma Guided Striper Fishing Trip for four (4), donated by Four Seasons Guide Service will be awarded for the largest fish caught.
Kids Zone Activities (for children under age 5)
Must be accompanied by an adult. This area includes catch & release tank, worm dig, crawdad catch, casting game and Texas Parks & Wildlife Angler Education Clinics. No inflatables or kayaking.
No charge. Located near the pavilion for children and their fish. Pictures will be posted on www.smugmug.com for free downloading.

Who can participate?
Fishin’ Fun is for kids 16 and younger and is open to all children, resident or non-resident. No registration required.
Can anyone fish during the fishing tournament?
No, only kids 16 and under from 8 - 10 a.m. Adults can fish after 10 a.m., with a valid fishing license.
Will there be COVID-19 safety precautions in place?
Masks and 6' distancing are recommended. Equipment and supplies used for this event will be sanitized after each person.
Do you need equipment or bait for the fishing tournament?
You can borrow rods & reels at the pavilion on a first-come, first-serve basis. Free magic bait and worms are available at the bait stations. If you would like to fish with anything else, please be sure to bring it.
Can you use the borrowed rods & reels after the tournament?
Loaner rods & reels will be available at the pavilion until 10:45 a.m. Please return rods & reels at noon so we will have them for future Fishin’ Fun events. Bait will be available free at the worm bin while supplies last.
Will the event be canceled if it rains?
