My Pet Has Been Impounded By Animal Services

Redeeming a Lost Pet

If your pet has gone missing, please call Animal Services to see if it has been impounded.  It is often helpful if you can email pictures.  If your pet is microchipped and you have access to that information, that is also helpful.

Animal Services is able to arrange pickup of impounded pets Monday through Friday from 9a-4p, and Saturday from 10a-2p. Please call ahead so we can arrange a staff member to assist you.

If you are picking up your lost pet, you must be 18 years or older or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. We will ask for proof of ownership in the form of photos or a microchip registered to the redeeming party. The impoundment fee starts at $20 for the first day and $10 for each additional day for STERILIZED animals, and proof of current rabies vaccination is required prior to redemption.

A microchip is MANDATORY for all animals who are impounded that are not already microchipped. The shelter will microchip your pet BEFORE release and you will be charged at $10 microchipping fee in addition to any impound fees.

IF YOUR PET IS NOT STERILIZED, you will be required to have this procedure performed as a condition of your pet's release. The redeeming pet owner will be required sign a sterilization / vaccination agreement . Citations will be issued for each violation of the signed sterilization/vaccination agreement.

For more information regarding these policies, please refer to the Farmers Branch City Ordinance:
