Bring your own picnic and enjoy the sunset.  The Texas Astronomical Society will provide a variety of telescopes for viewing the moon, Star Clusters, Open Star Clusters, Globular Star Clusters, Planetary Nebulae, and summer constellations.   In addition, participants are encouraged to bring their own telescopes.

Fairy Garden

Fairy Garden Workshop


Saturday, August 8 from 1 to 3 pm


Fee:  $25 per kit includes one garden and all supplies; space is limited and pre-registration is required.

Come join the Historical Park and Home Depot to create your very own unique Fairy Garden. All you need is a little imagination and we will supply the rest. During this two-hour workshop, we will help guide you in designing a fun and exciting miniature landscape. Fairy gardens are ideal for all ages and creative abilities. A parent or guardian is encouraged to work with their child to create their masterpiece.

Tea times are 1 pm and 3:30 pm

Join us on Facebook Live for a History of... lecture series! August 18, 2020 marks the 100th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, granting some women the right to vote in the United States.  Learn more about the fight to ratify the 19th Amendment and the battle to grant ALL women the right to vote, a struggle that continued long after its passing. Dr. Jennifer Allen from Brookhaven College will be our guest lecture speaker! We will have a short Q&A at the end of this presentation on Facebook Live.

Vintage Base Ball Practice

Want to try your hand at Vintage Base Ball? Join our open practices and learn the rules of 1860s base ball. Practices are held outdoors in our meadow; please wear closed-toed tennis shoes. Participants must sign waiver to play.

The Victorian Fencing Society will be offering free demonstrations.   Come and watch, learn and practice the late 19th century art of swordplay with foils and sabres.  Gentleman and ladies of all ages are encouraged to come and enjoy.   No experience is necessary.
