Citizen Comments during City Council Meetings
Public Comments is your opportunity to address your City of Farmers Branch elected officials directly about issues that are important to you and your community. Whether you comment via Public Comment session, or speak on a specific agenda item, your voice is important and will be heard. Speaker request form(s) will be accepted by the City Secretary from the time the agenda is posted up to 30 minutes prior to the start of the meeting.
Individuals will not be recognized to speak during the meeting unless this form has been submitted for each item of interest.

There is a three (3) minute time limit for each citizen to speak with a reasonable limitation on speakers on one topic or item with a maximum of fifteen total minutes on the same topic item. Anyone wishing to speak shall be courteous and cordial. No disparaging or inflammatory remarks directed at any member of the City Council or City Administration will be allowed.
When called by the Mayor, please approach the podium and state your name and address prior to beginning your comment. If you have written notes you wish to present to Mayor and Council, please furnish an extra copy for the official files. Audio/visual presentations must be submitted in advance to the City Secretary’s Office, noon prior to the Council meeting. Please direct your comments to the City Council and not the audience.

Terms & Organization
The Farmers Branch City Council consists of the Mayor and five City Council Members. The Mayor is elected at-large, with the remaining City Council Members representing five single member districts. The Mayor is the presiding officer for the City and represents the City at all official functions. Members of the Council introduce, deliberate and institute policy and ordinances for the betterment of the community. The Mayor and City Council members serve without pay for staggered terms of three years.
