Christmas in the Branch

Saturday - December 3, 2016

With widespread rain and cold temperatures forecast for the weekend, out of an abundance of caution Farmers Branch Parks and Recreation officials have announced the cancellation of Saturday's planned Christmas Tree Lighting event and will be, instead, opening the Farmers Branch Historical Park for the Tour of Lights.

"It's just not safe for thousands of people to be in the park when it's that wet," said Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Harting. "Plus, rain has obvious impacts on activities like the KidZone, the snow hill and fireworks."

Mr. Harting said that in place of the event, the park would be open for the Christmas Tour of Lights, with cookies available to those driving through that night.

The driving tour begins at Valley View and I-35E and follows the lighted path down Denton Drive to Farmers Branch Lane and through the Farmers Branch Historical Park.

Due to logistical constraints, the event will not be rescheduled.

November 25 - December 30, 2016

The 2016 edition of this animated light show will return bigger than ever! The Tour of Lights drive through, with over half a million flashing lights, is one of North Texas' longest animated shows.

There will be festive holiday music and the grand finale show that will include Santa Claus himself! The Tour begins at Valley View Lane and Interstate 35, continues south on Denton Drive, and through the Farmers Branch Historical Park. Admission is free, donations accepted.

The tour begins on the Friday after Thanksgiving and continues until December 30. With the wonderful help from our local non-profits, we are able to host the Historical Park portion of the driving tour every night between those dates, which in turn provides the opportunity to drive-through the dancing lights (with the exception of Christmas Day).

Follow us on Facebook for weather updates @farmersbranchspecialevents and tune into 107.3 FM during the drive!
