The contest is intended to be an enjoyable and friendly contest with an emphasis on participation. For those who wish to participate in a more competitive contest, the Dallas Rose Society sponsored show is open to all.

Each participant may enter up to two photographs and one floral specimen.

NOTE: To receive your free rose bush at the City Manager’s Rose Party you need to participate in the Rose Show

PHOTOGRAPHY DIVISION
Photographic entries will be accepted at the Parks Office in City Hall until October 17 during regular business hours (Mon-Thu 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fri 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). You may also submit your entries at City Hall the day of the show, October 18 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

All photographs must be submitted as a printed 8” x 10” color photograph of a rose or groups of roses. Photographs will not be returned. The format may be either horizontal or vertical. A frame will be provided at the show for display purposes. On the back of you photograph please include your name and phone number as well as the rose variety if known. Photographs will be judged 100% on photographic excellence. Awards will be given for each of the following:

BEAUTIFUL ROSE
- A photograph of a rose bloom.
BEAUTIFUL ROSES – A photograph of more than one rose bloom.
ROSE GARDEN VIEW - A photograph of a rose garden with or without people.
ABSTRACT ROSE - A photograph of abstract composition of a rose or group of roses.

FLORAL SPECIMEN
Floral specimen entries will be submitted in a vase provided to participant before the show. The vase and entry tag may be picked up at the Parks Office in City Hall until October 10th during regular business hours (Mon - Thur 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fri 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Entries should be dropped off at City Hall the Friday October 17 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or the day of the show, October 18 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. The entry tag should include the rose variety if known. Awards will be given for each of the following:

MOST FRAGRANT ROSE
MOST BEAUTIFUL ROSE IN BUD STAGE
MOST BEAUTIFUL ROSE IN OPEN STAGE
MOST BEAUTIFUL BOUQUET OF MIXED ROSES
MOST BEAUTIFUL BOUQUET OF A SINGLE VARIETY
MOST BEAUTIFUL SPRAY OF A KNOCKOUT ROSE


The exhibit area will be closed to participants until the show is judged and open to the public Saturday afternoon. The show closes at 4 p.m. You may pick up your floral specimen at that time. The photographs, which will be on display at the City Manager’s Garden Party, will not be returned. Awards presentations will be made at the City Manager’s Garden Party scheduled for October 23
