FBTX ~ Realizing the value of relationships and hard work were the lessons learned by Farmers Branch Economic Development Director Allison Cook on her first job, at age 15, working for her father's Houston roofing company.
Ms. Cook's perspective was detailed in the July edition of D CEO Magazine.
"I was mainly opening mail, organizing files and observing how the commercial roofing industry worked," she told D CEO's Farah Qutub. "From the perspective of the owner of the company, which was my dad, it was a really big deal to be on time in the morning or to appointments to show respect. He was very relatable. He would see other people and make connections.
"His behavior is what set the path for me to have a degree of excellence in everything I do, because I knew what his expectations were."
She continued that her father's example taught her to treat everyone the same and have respect for everyone in business.
