Council to consider upcoming fiscal year plan

FBTX ~ City Manager Charles S. Cox delivered his proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year to the City Council in late July, in accordance with the City Charter.

   The $107 million budget for fiscal year 2017-2018 will be considered by the Mayor and City Councilmembers during a series of meetings that included public hearings on August 15 & 29.

   Buoyed by a 5.1% increase in taxable values, the proposed budget is an increase of 9.5 percent over the current year,  leaving the property tax rate unchanged at 60.2267 cents for every $100 of valuation.  .

   The proposed 2017-2018 fiscal year budget can be found online, as well as a physical copy available for inspection at the Farmers Branch Justice Center, at the corner of Marsh Lane and Valley View.

   The proposed budget is expected to be considered for adoption on September 12, prior to the October 1 start to the new fiscal year.
