Questions About Your Library Account?

Here are some answers to commonly asked questions about Library services during our closure:

What about materials I currently have checked out?

All items currently checked out will have their due dates extended until the Library re-opens. No overdue fines will accrue during the Library’s closure.

Can I return my books?

The Library’s book return is closed until further notice. Please keep all of your materials until the Library re-opens. Due dates will be extended until the Library re-opens, and no overdue fines accrued after March 13 will be charged to your account. Thank you for your patience during this time.

What about items I have on hold?

Hold periods will also be extended until the library re-opens. You will not lose your place in the holds queue.

What if my account is blocked or expired?

Please contact the Library at 972.247.2511 or library@farmersbranchtx.gov so that staff can help you with any account issues. Currently, all accounts have been extended to May 8.

How can I read books if the Library is closed?

The Library has eBooks, digital audiobooks, music, movies, and more available through our digital resources 24/7. Check out Hoopla, Overdrive, RB Digital, and more on our eResources page.To learn how to use these resources, check out the Library’s Niche Academy tutorials.  

How can I apply for a library card?

Please complete the online library card application. Library staff will respond with your account details. Please be sure to include both a phone number and an email address in your application to ensure staff is able to reach you.
