FBTX ~ Local pet owners are reminded they are responsible for keeping their pets from running loose.
Those requirements include use of proper restraints (leashes) or an adequate fence to prevent the animal from getting out. Any animal not properly restrained or within a fence, even if in its own front yard, is considered to be at-large and is subject to being picked up by Animal Services.
If an animal is determined to be dangerous, it can be either removed from the City, humanely euthanized or allowed to remain in the City, but with its owner subject to stringent requirements, including $300,000 worth of liability insurance, a registration fee, a secured concrete enclosure for the animal and signage on the property, alerting the community of the presence of a dangerous animal.
